When do I worm my cat?
From 4 to 16 weeks of age for kittens treat with a product against round
worms frequently. From 6 months of age treat every 3 months with a product for roundworm and tapeworm. Always
consult you vet for the most effective product on the market.
How do I know if my cats got worms?
Not always easy to tell, however in extreme cases you may see weight loss
and/or vomiting. You may see worms in the faeces. Roundworms look like spaghetti strands. Tapeworm segments look
like rice grains. If you stick to the worming regime this should never be a problem.
What worms do cats get?
Roundworms and tapeworms are the most common and they live in your cats
intestines.
Can people get infected?
It is possible to get infected. A version of roundworm called
Toxocara-cati
This can be very harmful to children who become in contact with infected animal faeces.
How can my cat become infected?
A mother can pass roundworms, to her kittens via her milk; they can also be
spread via faeces especially if ingested. Fleas can spread tapeworms. The small rodents cats will prey on can
spread both types of worm.
Dog
When do I worm my dog?
As a puppy you should treat every 2 to 4 weeks up to 16 weeks of age. Adults
dogs require treatment every 3 months. Always consult you vet for the most effective product on the market for
roundworms and tapeworms.
